A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF JUNE 2016 AS THE
FIRST ANNUAL "CHILDREN'S HERO OF THE YEAR AWARDS" MONTH
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. The Eckerd Kids mission is to provide and share solutions that promote the well-being of
children and families in need of a second chance.
2. The Eckerd Kids vision is to ensure that each child has the opportunity to succeed.
3. The Eckerd Kids Project Bridge Transition Program would like to designate the month of June
2016 as the first annual "Children's Hero of the Year Awards" month.
4. To kickoff recognitions for the first year, the program will be holding an event, the first annual
"Children's Hero of the Year Awards" month on June 2, 2016 at the Riverwalk Center in Fort
Pierce, Florida, recognizing individuals and organizations who selflessly support and assist
youth in the Fort Pierce community.
5. Event proceeds will support Eckerd Kids Project Bridge, which supports youth ages 11-21 who
have previously been in a Juvenile Justice commitment program.
6. Project Bridge provides these at -risk youth the educational, mentoring, and vocational skills
needed to achieve stable and successful lives and avoid re-entry into the criminal justice
system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim June 2016 as the first annual "Children's Hero of the Year
Awards" month in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board encourages St. Lucie County residents to attend this very important event
celebrating our local Heroes.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 17`h day of May 2016.
