A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ST. LUCIE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN RECOGNITION OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF RON KNAGGS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Ron Knaggs graduated college from Bowling Green State University. He had a long career as
a CPA and went on to serve as Vice President of Finance and CFO of companies such as Textron
and Foxboro Corporation. He came to St. Lucie County in 2003 with his wife, Shelly, and two
children, Adam and Lauren. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Abigail, Kelly and Tara.
2. Mr. Knaggs was a dedicated volunteer for the Board of County Commissioners. He served on
the Citizen's Budget Committee from 2009 until 2016 and as Chairman from 2014to 2015. He
also served on the Board of Adjustment from 2012 through 2016.
3. Mr. Knaggs served our community by volunteering his time at other organizations in the
County such as the North Beach Association where he served as Treasurer and Membership
Chairman; and the Sheriff's Citizens on Patrol, a group of volunteers that help safeguard our
neighborhoods through citizen involvement. He also served the Navy Seal Museum as
Treasurer, Board of Directors member and Executive Committee Member.
4. Mr. Knaggs was also a member of the Waterway Radio and Cruising Club which monitors
boaters and their safety while cruising the Intracoastal Waterway and offshore, and The 100,
an organization which supports the needs of First Responders' families in time of distress.
5. Mr. Knaggs cared about his community and his sense of humor, kindness, energy and
graciousness enriched those fortunate enough to know and work with him. Sadly, St. Lucie
County and the broader community lost a valued member and leader on May 26, 2016 with
the passing of Mr. Ron Knaggs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED bythe Board of Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida
as follows:
1. This Board does hereby recognize the remarkable achievements of Ron Knaggs in St. Lucie
County, Florida and gratefully acknowledges his many contributions.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 6th day of September, 2016.
