LUCIE COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR DECLARING A STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, the St. Lucie County Public Safety Director has made the following determinations: 1. The Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County has adopted Resolution No. 00-277 authorizing the County Administrator and the Public Safety Director to exercise certain emergency powers and authority during a local emergency. 2. St. Lucie County Public Safety/Emergency Management has identified a culvert failure on Sneed Road approximately 1.5 miles North of Okeechobee Road/4 miles South of Orange Avenue in St. Lucie County. 3. The presence of this failure has placed St. Lucie County in a state of emergency due to exposing the citizens thereof to danger to life and property. 4. In order to respond to such emergency, upon this declaration, the County Administrator or his designee is authorized to initiate and take such actions authorized by Resolution 00-277 for and on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners during the term of such local state of emergency. 5. Such declaration shall remain in full force and effect for seven (7) days unless extended in seventy-two (72) hour increments with the concurrence of the Board of County Commissioners or sooner rescinded by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County or the County Administrator. 6. This Declaration shall become effective immediately upon signing this 20th day of January, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. JOSEPH E.
