A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING APRIL 1, 2017 AS THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE FLOTILLA 58 IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. Flotilla 58, located at 1400 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce, Florida has a long tradition of
serving the boating public of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. Flotilla 58 traced its ancestry back to April 1, 1942 with a letter dated May 8, 1942 that
provided actual proof that Flotilla 58 had gone through the process of organization and
was functioning as of that date.
3. Flotilla 58, now having surpassed seventy-five years of service, remains steadfast in their
commitment to both the U.S. Coast Guard and the communities they serve in Fort Pierce
and Northern St. Lucie County.
4. Flotilla 58 provides direct support to the Coast Guard and the boating community in all four
Auxiliary cornerstones via Direct Operations, Vessel Safety Checks and Marine Recreational
Boating Safety Visitations. They also provide support through Aviation and radio
operations white promoting strong fellowship of their members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
�. This Board recognizes and congratulates The Flotilla 58 on their 75 years of service to the
United States Coast Guard, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, the residents of St.
Lucie County, and the Treasure Coast as of April 1, 2017.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 18th day of April 2017.
