LUCIE COUNTY APPROVING CERTAIN INCENTIVES ON 6 BEHALF OF MAVERICK BOAT GROUP, INC. 7 8 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the 9 following determinations: 10 11 1. Maverick Boat Group, Inc., (MBG), as one of St. Lucie County's Targeted Industries, has 12 been an economic driver and leader in the marine industry in St. Lucie County for over 30 years and 13 employs over 260 production, skilled trade, professional and management level executives. 14 2. MGB's average earnings per worker is well above the average earnings for St. Lucie 15 County plus employees have generous medical benefits, 401K and profit sharing plans. 16 3. MBG possesses a strong corporate culture of continual in-house skill building, cross - 17 training and advanced career opportunities and has become a desired employer in the region, and one 18 of the most respected companies in the marine and boat manufacturing industry. 19 4. MBG has evolved into one of the nation's industry leaders in the recreational watercraft 20 category with production and new boat sales revenue having increased 306% and 639% respectively, 21 from 2009 to 2015. 22 5. MBG has identified vacant land for potential expansion on St. Lucie Boulevard which is 23 in close proximity to its existing facility. 24 6. This expansion would include, in its first phase, over 106,000 square feet of new 25 industrial space, new equipment and machinery, and the creation of 100 new jobs. 26 7. MBG's five-year strategic plan includes multiple expansion phases featuring another 27 106,000+ square feet of production, warehouse and office facilities on this same site. 28 8. MBG desires to expand locally and continue its longstanding tradition here in St. Lucie 29 County. 30 31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie 32 County, Florida, that in consideration of the benefits gained by the residents of St. Lucie County 33 through the expansion of Maverick Boat Group's manufacturing facilities, the following incentives are 34 offered: 35 36 A. Clearing of County Owned Easement: The Board authorize County staff to clear the invasive 37 species of the County owned right-of-way adjacent to St. Lucie Boulevard abuttingthe property 38 prior to the commencement of construction of project. 39 40 B. Relief from Sidewalk Improvement Requirement: The Board authorize relief from the design 41 and construction of a sidewalk per the County's Land Development Code (LDC) section 7.05.04 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 given the County's plans to pursue future improvements to St. Lucie Boulevard through FDOT, including sidewalks. C. 10 -year and 100% Ad Valorem Tax Exemption: The Board authorizes County staff to assist MBD in the application for a 10 -year ad valorem tax exemption as described in the County's Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemptions program valued at a 100% each year for consideration by the Board in accordance with Section 42-46, St. Lucie County Code of Ordinances and Compiled Laws. D.
