A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 17-23, 2017 AS
"CONSTITUTION WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. The Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our liberties, embodies
the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule by law.
2. September 17, 2017 marks the two hundred thirtieth anniversary of the framing of the
Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention.
3. It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its
memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate it.
4. Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the
United States of America designating September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the week of September 17-23, 2017 as
"CONSTITUTION WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida and asks our citizens to reaffirm the ideals the
Framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us
through the guardian of our liberties.
2. This Board further urges St. Lucie County residents to attend the annual
Constitution Week Flag Ceremony on Saturday, September 16, 2017, being held at the Ft. Pierce
Farmers' Market in Fort Pierce, Florida at 9:00 am. to acknowledge together this extremely
important national event.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 5th day of September, 2017.
