HomeMy WebLinkAbout17-274 RESOLUTION NO. 2017-274 (ALTERNATE) A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PETITIONS TO EXPAND THE BOUNDARIES OF THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY MOSQUITO CONTROL DISTRICT TO ADD LAKE PARK I AND LAKE PARK II; DETERMINING THAT THE PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE AREA PROPOSED TO BE ADDED TO THE DISTRICT HAVE SIGNED THE PETITIONS; WAIVING THE REFERENDUM REQUIRMENT ON THE PROPOSED EXPANSION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the St. Lucie County Mosquito Control District has made the following determinations: 1. Section 29, Chapter 87-510, Laws of Florida, establishes a procedure whereby the owners of property located outside of the boundaries of the District may petition the district to expand the boundaries of the District to include their property. 2. On December 19, 2017, the District held a public hearing to consider the petitions submitted by owners of property in Tradition Plat No. I and No. II, Lake Park, to add certain property to the District as set forth in the legal description attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A". 3. The subject property is contiguous to the existing boundaries of the District and would benefit from regular treatment for mosquitoes and sandflies by the District. 4. Following the conclusion of the public hearing, the District determined that it is in the best interest of the District and the affected property owners to expand the boundaries of the District to add the property lying adjacent to the existing District boundaries in the area known as Lake Park I and II, as more particularly described in the legal description attached hereto and incorporated here as Exhibit "A," hereinafter referred to as the Subject Property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Lucie County Mosquito Control District: 1. The petitions to expand the District boundaries to add the Subject Property is hereby approved. 2. As the signatures on the petitions represent eighty-seven percent (87%) of the private owners of the subject property, the requirement for a referendum of the qualified electors residing in the subject property is hereby waived. 1 3. This resolution shall take effect on the date of adoption.
