AN ORDII~ANCE CREATING SECTION 1-20-6 (TURNING
PROHIBITION) OF ARTICLE I (IN GENERAL) CHAPTER
1-20 (TRA:FIC) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA; BY AUTHORIZING THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER5 OF S'IL LUCIE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO ADOPT REGULATIONS
PERTAINING TO VEHICLES TURNING MOVEMENTS BY
RESOLUTION AND APPROVING AND INCORPORATING ALL
PREVIOUS RESOLUTION5 ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMM.T. SSIONERS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY,
FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICI-rNG PROVISIONS,
SEVERABIITTY AND APpITCABILITY; PROVIDING FOR
FILING WITH DEPARTMENT OF STATE; PROVIDING AN
EFFECT3:VE DATE; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION AND
CODIFICATION.
WHEREAS, the Bocrd of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinatioqs:
1. Chapter 316, Florida 5tatutes, authorizes the Board of County Commissioners
to regulate or prohibit the turning of vehicles or specific types of vehicles for streets and
highways under the County's jurisdiction.
2. In order to simplify and clarify the procedures for regulating or prohibiting the
turning of vehicles, this Board believes that regulation or prohibition of the turning of motor
vehicles or specified types of vehicles should be established by resolution rather than by
ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ZT ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners of
St. Lucie County, Florida:
PART A.
CREATION OF SECTION 1-20-6 (TURNING PROHIBITIONS) OF
ARTICLE I fIN GENERAL) OF CHAPTER [ ~20 (TRAFFIC)
Section 1-20-6 of A-ticle Z of Chapter 1-20 of the Code of Ordinances of St, Lucie
County. Florida. is hereby created to read as follows:

Section 1-20-6. Turn ng Movements
Vehicle, for the purpose of this section, is defined as set forth in Section
3t6.003¢751, Florida Statutes, as amended.
The Board o-' County Commissioners of St. Lucia County. Florida. is authorized
to regulate cr prohibit the turning of vehicles or specified types of vehicles at
a previously advertised public hearing by resolution after determining that
such regulation is reasonable and for the benefit of the public health, safety,
or general welfare of the citizens of St. Lucia County.
All previous -esolutions regulating vehicle turning movements adopted by the
Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucia County, Florida. are hereby
approved and incorporated as adopted,
PART B. CONFLZCI'Zq& PROVISIONS.
Special acts of the =lorida legislature applicable only to unincorporated areas of St.
Lucia County,, County ordinances and County resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict with this
ordinance are hereby superseded by this ordinance to the extent of such conflict.
PART C. SEVERABIL~TY.
Zf any portion of this ordinance is for any reckon held or declared to be
unconstitutional, inoperative or void, such holding shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance. If this ordinance or any provision thereof shall be held to be inapplicable to
any person, property or circumstance, such holding shall not affect its applicability to any
other person, property or circumstance.
PART D. APpITCABIL.TI'Y OF ORDINANCE.
This ordinance shall be applicable throughout the unincorporated areas of St. Lucia
County.
PART E. FZLZN& WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE.
The Clerk is hereby directed forthwith to send a certified copy of this ordinance to
the Bureau of Administrative Code and Laws, Department of 5tote, The Capitol, Tallahassee,
Florida 32304.

PART F.
EFFECTIVE DATE.
This ordinance shal become effective upon receipt of official acknowledgment from
the Office of the Secretary of State that this ordinance has been filed in that office.

Provisions of this Ordinance shall be incorporated in the Code of Ordinances of St.
Lucia County, Florida, and -he word "ordinance" may be changed to "section", "article", or
other appropriate word, onc the sections of this ordinance may be renumbered or relettered
to accomplish such intentior; provided, however, that Parts B through H shall not be codified.
