A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 9-13, 2018
AS "BOYS & GIRLS CLUB WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. The young people of St. Lucie County are tomorrow's leaders.
2. Many young people need professional youth services to help them achieve their full
potential.
3. There is one Boys & Girls Club organization in St. Lucie County with 19 locations - including Fort
Pierce and Port St. Lucie - that serve more than 7,000 young people annually.
4. The Boys & Girls Clubs instill young people with the self-confidence to believe they can succeed
at anything they put their mind to, and stand at the forefront of efforts in the areas of
Education and Career Development; Health & Life Skills; the Arts; Character & Leadership
Development; and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
5. The Boys & Girls Club organizations in Florida help ensure young people have a safe, supportive
place to spend time and will provide them with quality youth development programs.
6. The Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County will celebrate National Boys & Girls Club Week with
some 4,000 Clubs and over 2 million more children and teens nationwide.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. This Board proclaims April 9-13, 2018 as "Boys & Girls Club Week" in St Lucie County, Florida.
2. Further, the Board encourages all citizens to recognize and commend the Boys & Girls Clubs
in Florida for providing the young people of our communities with comprehensive and effective
youth development services.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 3'd day of April 2018.
