A RESOLUTION ALLOWING SAFE SPACE, INC., A 501(c)(3) NONPROFIT
CORPORATION, THE USE OF SPACE AT 714 AVENUE C, FORT PIERCE,
FLORIDA, AND AT 5150 NW MILNER DRIVE, PORT ST. LUCIE,
FLORIDA, FOR MEETING SPACE TO PROVIDE DOMESTICE ABUSE
CLIENT SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Safe Space, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, (the "User"), has requested the
use of space in the St. Lucie County Health Department Offices located at 714 Avenue C, Fort Pierce,
Florida, and at 5150 NW Milner Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida, (the "Sites"), to provide for victims of
domestic violence on the Treasure Coast to meet with attorneys in conjunction with services offered
by the User; and
WHEREAS, Section 125.38, Florida Statutes (2018) requires that any not for profit
organization wishing to use any real or personal property that may be owned by any county or this
state or by its board of county commissioners, for public or community interest and welfare, may
apply to the Board of County Commissioners for a conveyance or lease of such property; and
WHEREAS, Section 125.38 further states that if it is determined by the Board of County
Commissioners that such property is required for such use and is not needed for County purposes,
the Board can allow the use of such property; and
WHEREAS, the County desires to make the subject property available to the User for the
above-described purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida:
The Board does hereby grant permission to Safe Space, Inc., to use Room 119 at 714 Avenue
C, Fort Pierce, Florida and Room 160E at 5150 NW Milner Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida to
provide for victims of domestic violence on the Treasure Coast to meet with attorneys in
conjunction with services offered by Safe Space, Inc.
2. The term of this use shall begin on the dates set out in the Amended & Restated Facilities Use
Agreement until such time as the agreement is terminated.
After motion and second, the vote on this resolution was as follows:
