A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ROY AND JANICE McGRIFF FOR THEIR MANY
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SHERATON PLAZA PARK IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
AND RENAMING THE PARK AS THE "ROY AND JANICE McGRIFF PARK AT
SHERATON PLAZA" IN THEIR HONOR
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. In the early 1980s, the McGriff's were catalysts behind the changes that were happening
in Sheraton Plaza,
2. The McGriff's tireless efforts led to the creation of the Park, the entrance signage and
neighbor streetlights that the Sheraton Plaza community enjoys today.
3. The McGriff's dedication to the community was unprecedented when Mrs. McGriff wrote
then Commissioner Green, Governor Graham, and President Ronald Reagan on behalf of
the children of Sheraton Plaza to establish a place to play.
4. Due to the untiring dedication of Roy and Janice McGriff to St. Lucie County Sheraton Plaza
Park, this Board believes that a tribute should be given in their honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, in a meeting assembled this 2"d day of July, 2019, the
Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, does hereby honor Roy and Janice
McGriff for their many contributions to St. Lucie County Sheraton Plaza Park by dedicating and
renaming the Park, as the "Roy and Janice McGriff Park at Sheraton Plaza" in St. Lucie County,
Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida that this Board does hereby recognize and appreciate the passion and efforts of
Roy and Janice McGriff in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 2"d day of July 2019.
