A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY APPROVING
CERTAIN INCENTIVES ON BEHALF OF CLEVELAND CLINIC -
LERNER RESEARCH INSTITUTE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. Cleveland Clinic - Lerner Research Institute is focused on laboratory based, translational
and clinical research to understand the underlying causes of human diseases and develop new
treatments and cures for the Cleveland Clinic.
2. Cleveland Clinic - Lerner Research Institute has identified an existing building in the
Tradition Center for Commerce in the City of Port St. Lucie for its research and development
expansion in Florida. In addition to a generous benefits package, Cleveland Clinic — Lerner
Research Institute's average earnings per worker is well above the average earnings for St. Lucie
County.
3. The project will include occupying over 60,000 square feet of research and development
space and the creation of 50 new jobs.
4. St. Lucie County is offering a collaborative incentive package to Cleveland Clinic — Lerner
Research Institute in partnership with the City of Port St. Lucie for the benefit of the residents of
St. Lucie County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, that in consideration of the benefits gained by the residents of St. Lucie County
through the development of Cleveland Clinic — Lerner Research Institute's new facility, the
following incentives are offered:
A. St. Lucie County Job Growth Incentive Grant (JG/G) — The Board authorizes County
staff to prepare a JGIG agreement with Cleveland Clinic — Lerner Research Institute
and/or its subsidiaries or successors for the creation of 50 new jobs pursuant to the
Job Growth Investment Grant guidelines.
B. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
