A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ST.
LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE RESTORATION OF
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) EMERGENCY RELIEF
FUNDING FOR THE EDWARDS ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN ST.
LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has made the following determinations:
1. The FHWA emergency relief funding provided approximately $2,600,000 for the
restoration of Edwards Road, which suffered damages caused by Hurricane Irma in
2017.
2. The FHWA does not concur with the Florida Department of Transportation's request to
provide a time extension for the Edwards Road project.
3. County staff is requesting FHWA replenish the funding that will be utilized for the
permanent repair of Edwards Road.
4. These emergency relief funds are vital to the successful reconstruction of Edwards Road.
5. The County is committed to meeting federal requirements and is cooperating with FDOT
to successfully complete this project in a timely manner.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim its support for the Restoration of FHWA Emergency
Relief funding in for the Edwards Road Reconstruction Project in St. Lucie County,
Florida.
2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
3. This Resolution shall be forwarded to the TPO, FDOT District 4 and FHWA.
