Good Morning EDC Partners
Yesterday the Small Business Administration announced the closure of the Economic Injury
Disaster Loan Program (including the EIDL Advances) and the Paycheck Protection Program
(PPP). The SBA is unable to accept new applications at this time due to the Lapse in
Appropriations Notices. Click here to view: EIDL Notice and PPP Notice.
In an effort to enhance the state’s unemployment assistance program during the COVID-19
crisis, Governor DeSantis appointed Jonathan Satter, Secretary of the Department of
Management Services, to lead the state’s unemployment system this afternoon. Additionally,
Governor DeSantis signed Executive Order 20-104 which suspends the “actively seeking
work” reporting requirements by claimants. This effort will help alleviate demands on the
reemployment system with claimants not having to access the system for unnecessary
reporting requirements due to the negative economic impacts of COVID-19. Click here to view
the Governors Order: https://www.flgov.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/EO-20-104.pdf
