A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY,
FLORIDA SUPPORTING THE CITY OF PORT ST. LUCIE REQUEST TO THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S PARTICIPATION TO CONSTRUCT IMPROVEMENTS
AT THE INTERSECTION OF PEACOCK BOULEVARD AND ST. LUCIE WEST BOULEVARD IN
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following
determinations:
1. The Florida Department of Transportation is currently designing improvements to the St. Lucie West
Boulevard Bridge over 1-95.
2. The design includes widening St. Lucie Boulevard from Peacock Boulevard to Reserve Boulevard.
3. Improvements at the intersection of Peacock Boulevard and St. Lucie West include widening only on the west
side of the intersection.
4. The City of Port St. Lucie has requested that the Florida Department of Transportation include widening the
northwest corner of the intersection to include a "slip lane" improving intersection efficiency from
southbound Peacock Boulevard to westbound St. Lucie West Boulevard and ultimately to Interstate 95.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of St Lucie County Florida:
1. This Board supports the request by the City of Port St. Lucie for additional improvements to the intersection
of Peacock Boulevard and St. Lucie West Boulevard.
2. This Board requests the Florida Department of Transportation to include the design and fund the
construction of the "slip lane" on the northwest corner of the intersection.
3. This Board requests staff to continue to coordinate with the City of Port St. Lucie and the Florida Department
of Transportation regarding the proposed improvements to St. Lucie West Boulevard.
4. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
5. The County Administrator is directed to send a copy of this resolution to the County's state legislative
delegation, the City of Port St. Lucie City Manager, and the State of Florida Department of Transportation.
