A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 2-8, 2021 AS
"ST. LUCIE COUNTY CORRECTION OFFICER'S WEEK"
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioner of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. The week of May 2 — 8, 2021 has been designated as National Correction
Officer's Week.
2. Correction Officers are responsible for the infinitely difficult task of providing for
the care and the custody of approximately 1,267 inmates held each day in the
county's detention facility.
3. Correction Officers play a vital role in protecting the rights of the public to be
safeguarded from criminal activity; and the operation of a detention facility
represents a crucial component of the criminal justice system.
4. This Board wishes to acknowledge Sheriff Ken J. Mascara and the 224 sworn
certified correction officers of the Department of Detention.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim May 2, 2021 through May 8, 2021 as "ST. LUCIE
COUNTY CORRECTION OFFICER'S WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board urges the citizens of St. Lucie County to recognize our Correction
Officers for the fine job they do in protecting the rights of the citizens of St. Lucie
County.
