A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY 2021 AS
"THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF PLACE OF HOPE" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. The month of May 2021 will mark the 20th Anniversary of Place of Hope and celebrate
two decades of service to over 17,000 foster children, homeless youth, families in transition and
survivors of trafficking in our community.
2. In the 19th Judicial Circuit, Place of Hope is the largest child welfare organization and has
received GuideStar's Platinum Seal of Transparency for each of the past five years, Charity
Navigator's highest four out of four star rating for each of the past nine years and was named
one of the top 11 charities that changed the world by the Huffington Post in 2014.
3. Foster families on the Treasure Coast have opened their homes and hearts to children of
families in crisis, playing a vital role in helping families heal, reconnect, and find permanency.
4. Place of Hope is grateful for partnerships with community focused businesses and
individuals to meet the needs of pregnant youth, provide life-skills training and enrichment
opportunities, keep kids from entering the child welfare system, restore hope to trafficking
victims and more.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida that this Board does hereby proclaim the month of May 2021 as "THE 20TH
ANNIVERSARY OF PLACE OF HOPE" in St. Lucie County, Florida and urge all citizens to volunteer
their time, talent, and energy on behalf of foster children, foster parents and professional staff
engaged in this critical endeavor.
