A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT BETWEEN OKEECHOBEE COUNTY,
FLORIDA AND ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR DRUG
TESTING SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has
made the following determinations:
1. Section 163.01, Florida Statues, known as the"Florida Interlocal Cooperation
Act of 1969" authorizes local governmental units to make the most efficient use of their
powers by enabling them to cooperate on a basis of mutual advantage.
2. Okeechobee County and St. Lucie County are political subdivisions of the State
of Florida pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes and are public agencies within the
meaning of Chapter 163, Florida Statutes and both are located in the 19th Judicial Circuit
of the State of Florida.
3. St. Lucie County operates the St. Lucie County Drug Lab, located at 406 NW
3rd Street, Okeechobee, FL 34972, which offers drug court participants an opportunity to
obtain drug-testing services as may be ordered by an Okeechobee County Drug Court at
a reduced cost.
4. Okeechobee County and St. Lucie County entered into an Interlocal Agreement
on April 1, 2021, in which St. Lucie County agrees to provide drug-testing services through
its St. Lucie County Drug Lab for Okeechobee County Drug Court participants and
Okeechobee County agrees to subsidize the cost of such services up to Six Thousand
Dollars ($6,000.00) out of the Drug Abuse Trust Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. The Interlocal Agreement between Okeechobee County, Florida and St. Lucie
County, Florida for Drug Testing Services (Contract C21-04-254) is hereby ratified.
2. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
