XV.5., §2-284 (Hurricane Irma) WHEREAS, EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 17-235 was issued by the Governor of the State of Florida on September 4, 2017, declaring a state of emergency in response to Hurricane Irma that poses a severe threat to the entire State of Florida and requires that timely precautions are taken to protect the communities, critical infrastructure, and general welfare of this State; and WHEREAS, safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens is a fundamental responsibility of the governing body of each political subdivision of the state; and WHEREAS,by operation of law, the aforementioned EXECUTIVE ORDER and Sections 252.36, 252.46 and 252.38, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 2, Article XV.5. A state of local emergency exists for the City of Fort Pierce,Florida. Section 2. This Declaration of Local Emergency shall take effect immediately and shall remain in effect for the next seven (7) days, pursuant to Section 252.38, Florida Statues,unless terminated earlier, or extended as necessary.
