A RESOLUTION HONORING ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY HEATHER YOUNG
FOR HER FAITHFUL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Heather Young will retire on July 30, 2021, from her position as Assistant County Attorney in the
St. Lucie County Attorney's Office,after 35 years of dedicated service to this Board. Heather grew
up in Huntington, Indiana and attended the Huntington North High School. She then studied at
Washington and Lee University of Law and Vanderbilt University. She was hired as an Assistant
County Attorney by Dan McIntyre in August of 1986, and in fact, she was the first person hired by
Mr. McIntyre.
2. For 35 years, Heather Young has worked tirelessly to assist the County with legal matters. Her
professional tenure spans a unique era of growth in this County. She has contributed her wisdom,
intelligence, depth of experience, and sense of public responsibility to many areas, not the least
of which is representing the Canvassing Board in many high profile elections over the years.
Heather has also been a crucial factor in negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements with the
Teamsters.
3. Heather has a passion for animals and thoroughly enjoys her work with Animal Control helping to
rescue animals and put them into loving homes. She also has four lucky animals of her own—two
Greyhound dogs named Kip and Molly and two horses named Cali and Dewey.
4. Ms. Young has served as legal counsel to many Advisory Boards including, but not limited to
Planning and Zoning Commission, Treasure Coast Education Research & Development Authority,
Canvassing Board, and others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida, does hereby express its sincere appreciation and gratitude for Heather Young's thirty-five years
of faithful and dedicated service to the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida and
for exemplifying outstanding dedication in St. Lucie County, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be presented to Heather Young as a
token of this Board's appreciation.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 27th day of July 2021.
