A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REBRANDING OF
THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSIT SYSTEM
FROM THE TREASURE COAST CONNECTOR AND
COMMUNITY TRANSIT TO THE AREA REGIONAL
TRANSIT OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY ("ART")
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida,
has made the following determinations:
1. The St. Lucie County's ("County") public transit system was created in 2002
and currently includes fixed route, paratransit, and microtransit services.
2. In the past, the County's public transit services operated under various
names including the Treasure Coast Connector and Community Transit.
3. Since 2002, the County's public transit system has grown with the increase
in public demand for transit services.
4. The County now operates a large-scale public transit system that is in need
of system identity and cohesive branding.
5. In November of 2020, the County engaged a transit consultant to obtain
public input on the rebranding and to assist with brand name and visual development.
6. Through public and stakeholder involvement, along with consultation with
industry experts, the name Area Regional Transit of St. Lucie County ("ART") was
recommended as an easily recognizable and transit-appropriate brand.
7. The brand Area Regional Transit of St. Lucie County, also known as "ART,"
also provides an opportunity to further connect to the community through the
incorporation of public art which will be displayed in various forms throughout the transit
system and which ties in seamlessly to the brand's theme and artistic history of the
region.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. The Board hereby authorizes the rebranding of the St. Lucie County Public

Transit System from the Treasure Coast Connector and Community Transit to the Area
Regional Transit of St. Lucie County ("ART").
2. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
After motion and second, the vote on the resolution was as follows:
