LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIA INCLUDING THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY III IN THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT SERVICE CLASS FOR THE FLORIDA RETIREMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida has made the following determinations: 1. The Florida Retirement System (FRS) was established in 1970. The FRS is a contributory system, with active members contributing three percent of their salaries; and 2. The membership of the FRS is divided into five membership classes: 1. The Regular Class 2. The Special Risk Class 3. The Special Risk Administrative Support Class 4. The Elected Officers' Class 5. The Senior Management Service Class 3. The Senior Management Service Class was established in 1987. 4. Positions to be included in the Senior Management Service Class are designated by the local agency employer; and 5. In order to be included in the Senior Management Service Class, a position needs to be full-time nonelective, managerial or policymaking filled by employees who serve at the pleasure of the employer without civil service protection, head organizational units or have responsibility to effect or recommend personnel, budget, expenditure, or policy decisions in their area of responsibility; and 6. A 2020 Classification, Compensation and Benefits Study prepared by Cody & Associates, Inc. recommended that the position of Assistant County Attorney III be included in Senior Management Class. 7. A notice of intent to designate the position of Assistant County Attorney III to the Senior Management Service Class was published once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published in St. Lucie County. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners, St. Lucie County, as follows: 1 1. The position of Assistant County Attorney III is designated for inclusion in the Senior Management Service Class for participation in the Florida Retirement System. 2. This resolution shall take effect on January 1, 2022. After motion and second, the vote of this Resolution was as follows: Commissioner Sean Mitchell, Chair AYE Commissioner Frannie Hutchinson, Vice Chair AYE Commissionner Chris Dzadovsky AYE Commissionner Linda Bartz ABSENT Commissioner Cathy Townsend AYE PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 7th day of December, 2021.
