A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 2022 AS "2-1-1 AWARENESS
MONTH" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida has made the
following determinations:
1. St. Lucie County congratulates the 2-1-1 HelpLine for its 6 decades of quality and caring
service to the community!
2. Over this span of time, the 2-1-1 HelpLine has responded to over 3 million requests for
help from people of all walks of life providing the guidance and support they've needed;
and 2-1-1 continued to do through these trying times.
3. Mental & Emotional Health, Addiction, Housing/Utilities, Food Insecurity and Health
concerns are the top needs expressed by people reaching out to us.
4. Caring staff continue to be the beacon of hope providing crisis support when people are
overwhelmed and do not know where to turn. The 2-1-1 Helpline is available anytime
day or night.
5. 2-1-1 also has specialized advocacy and support programs that include "The Caregiver
Support Project"; "My Florida Veterans" provides peer to peer support, and helps
veterans to readjust, providing linkage to services for veterans and their families; and
Help Me Grow" catching children's development delays early.
6. 2-1-1's life-saving "Sunshine" Daily Telephone Reassurance Calls continue to brighten the
lives of local isolated seniors and has expanded to include isolated caregivers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the month of February 2022 as "2-1-1 Awareness
Month" and congratulate the 2-1-1 Helpline for their 6 decades of Service in St. Lucie
County, Florida.
2. This Board urges all citizens to be aware that if they are overwhelmed and in crisis or just
need to talk, 2-1-1 is available any time of day or night. 2-1-1 can also provide referrals
for Mental Health Counseling, Substance Abuse, Health Care, Employment, Food
Assistance, Day Care, Support Groups, Volunteering, VITA free income tax preparation
and so much more.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 1st day of February 2022.
