A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE EFFORTS OF THE PORT ST. LUCIE BUSINESS WOMEN AND
PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 22, 2022, AS "AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN'S DAY"
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. The Port St. Lucie Business Women has operated, by design, as an independent
organization, separate from any national or international entity, free to set forth its own mission,
goals and agendas. From their four Founding members in 1980, PSLBW has grown strong and
evolved into a professional women's organization representing a wide variety of businesses and
levels of management, government officials, entrepreneurs and women business owners.
2. Their 40-year partnership with Indian River State College has benefitted 74 local women
through the award of $130,500 in scholarships to continue their education. The Port St. Lucie
Business Women recognize the importance of scholarships for continuing education for members
to further their professional and career development paths as well.
3. The Port St. Lucie Business Women has awarded more than $200,000 in Grants to local
non-profit agencies serving women and children over the past 40 years. In 2020, PSLBW awarded
their highest numbers of Grants to these local agencies.
4. Their 40th Anniversary Brick Pathway Project brought in critical funds through the
pandemic, continuing to provide much needed Community Grants and Scholarships for local
women and children.
5. PSLBW has supported and served many community needs, from participating in "Day of
Caring" for Treasure Coast Food Bank, swinging hammers and painting walls for Habitat for
Humanity, Pace Center for Girls. For the past decade, they have sponsored and participated in
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
6. PSLBW is recognized during American Business Women's Day, for their efforts in bringing
together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities to help themselves
and others grow personally and professionally.
7. PSLBW's continued commitment to our community while providing leadership through
action has been steady throughout their history and continues strongly today.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida that this Board does hereby proclaim September 22, 2022, as "American Business
Women's Day" in St. Lucie County, Florida and recognize the Port St. Lucie Business Women for
their outstanding community service efforts to St. Lucie County.
