A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF ST, LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA RATIFYING THE PUBLIC SAFETY
DIRECTOR'S EMERGENCY AND EXTENSIONS
(HURRICANE IAN)
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Pursuant to Section 252.38, Florida Statutes, political subdivisions of the state have the
power during a state of local emergency to provide for the health and safety of persons and property.
2. The Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County has adopted Resolution No. 00-
277 authorizing the St. Lucie County Administrator and the St. Lucie County Public Safety Director to
exercise certain emergency powers and authority during a local emergency.
3. On September 23, 2022, the Governor of the State of Florida issued Executive Order
Number 22-218 declared a State of Emergency that included St. Lucie County; and
4. On September 27, 2022, the St. Lucie County Public Safety Director declared a State of
Local Emergency—Hurricane Ian ("St. Lucie County Declaration of Emergency");and
5.0n October 4, 2022, and October 11, 2022, the Public Safety Director extended the State of
Local Emergency.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida:
1. The Public Safety Director's State of Local Emergency effective September 27, 2022, at
8:45 a.m. and subsequent extensions as noted above are hereby ratified.
2. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
After motion and second, the vote on this resolution was as follows:
