A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING SUSAN JACOB FOR HER MANY YEARS OF
FAITHFUL AND DEDICATED SERVICE IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Susan Jacob has been with the County since 2002. She started as a Librarian III
and in 2004 became a Librarian IV.
2. In March 2010, Susan became the Interim Manager and in May of that same year
was promoted to the permanent Library Manager position.
3. During the 2011 County Department consolidation, the Library lost is department
status and became a division in the Community Services Department.
4. However, thanks to Susan's leadership in overseeing the expansion of the Hurston
Branch and opening the Lewis Branch, coupled with her 26-year experience in
library systems, in 2017 the Library was again made an independent County
Department and Susan became the Library Director, where she has continued to
serve.
5. Under Susan's direction, library programs and services have evolved to meet
modern library science practices and plans for building a new Port St. Lucie Branch
are underway.
6. In addition, the Library is expanding to a six day a week opening in select locations.
7. On October 11, 2022, Susan announced her plans to retire effective January 13,
2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, does hereby recognize Susan Jacob for her faithful, dedicated, and accomplished
tenure while with St. Lucie County as well as for her distinguished career in library science overall
in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 10th day of January 2023.
