A RESOLUTION RENAMING A COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY CURRENTLY KNOWN AS
AICO ROAD TO ALCO ROAD LYING IN SECTIONS 17,20,21,28 AND 33,TOWNSHIP 34 SOUTH,
RANGE 39 EAST,ST.LUCIE COUNTY,FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Section 336.05(1),Florida Statutes,authorizes the Board of County Commissioners to name and
rename streets and roads lying outside the boundaries of any Incorporated municipality.
2. Pursuant to Ordinance No.87-8,Part A,St.Lucie County Code of Ordinances,Sec.36-51,there
shall be no duplications of street names in St.Lucie County,Florida.
3. Pursuant to St.Lucie County Land Development Code Section 7.05.08(C)(2),streets,regardless of
functional classification,which run parallel to the north-south base line(Orange Avenue)shall be
called Avenue,Drive or some other designation beginning with a letter In the first half(A through
M)of the alphabet. Streets,regardless of classification,which run parallel to the east-west base
line(U.S.Highway 1)shall be called Terrace,Place or some other designation beginning with a
letter in the second half(N through Z)of the alphabet.
4. The Property Acquisition Division received a request to rename a County right-of-way known as
Aico Road to Alco Road.Aico Road provides access to properties owned by Florida Power&Light
Company, Bernard A.Egan Groves,Inc.,Shamrock Groves LLC,Palm Way Investments LLC and
Richard M.Carnell Jr.(TR).Letters were sent to five landowners who own property along Aico
Road.The County received three letters of no objection to the name change from Florida Power
& Light Company, Bernard A. Egan Groves, Inc.and Shamrock Groves LLC.The remaining two
property owners,Palm Way Investments LLC and Richard M.Carnell Jr.(TR) never responded.

Public Safety and the Property Acquisitions Division have reviewed,verified and approved the
street name Alto Road.
5. On February 6, 2001, the Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2001-56
authorizing and approving the execution of the State of Florida Department of Transportation and
St.Lucie County Roadway Transfer Agreement conveying Aico Road to St.Lucie County.Aico Road
provided temporary access for the State of Florida Department of Transportation to construct
Interstate 1-95.After the completion of Interstate 1-95 Aico Road was no longer needed by the
State of Florida Department of Transportation.
6. Aico Road is a County owned and maintained right-of-way,lying in Sections 17,20,21,28 and 33,
Township 34 South,Range 39 East shall be renamed as follows and more particularly shown on
attached Exhibit"A":

NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.Lucie County,
Florida:
A. Aico Road is a County owned and maintained right-of-way,lying in Sections 17,20,21,28
and 33 Township 34 South,Range 39 East shall be renamed as follows and more
particularly shown on attached Exhibit"A":

B. The Property Acquisition Division is hereby directed to notify the appropriate Utilities,the
U.S.Postal Service,the Property Appraiser,the Supervisor of Elections,and the St.Lucie
County Sheriff and record the Resolution in the Public Records of St.Lucie County,Florida.
