The second full week in April has been declared National Public Safety Telecommunicators
3 Week" by the Senate and United States House of Representatives. Each Telecommunicator has
eexhibited compassion, empathy, and professionalism while keeping our community and its �1

Telecommunicators of the St. Lucie County Fire District processed over 63,381 emergency calls
- ; last year and are the first and most critical contact that our citizens have with St. Lucie County Fire

• Emergencies can occur at any time that require police, fire, or emergency medical services. When
�- an emergency occurs the prompt response of law enforcement, fire services, and ambulance v
,(( services is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property. These Telecommunicators ►1y
kN ` are the vital link to those calling for help and to firefighters and paramedics. They monitor

A , emergency personnels activities by radio and telephone and provide them with lifesaving ;
g 1 information to ensure their safety. . -

( j` The safety of our deputies, police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel is
dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained and relayed from citizens who
ttaccess the 9-1-1 emergency system. The safety of SLCFD firefighters and paramedics is dependent !,
upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained by all Telecommunicators from the citizens
(( e, 5��who telephone the St. Lucie County Fire Emergency Operations Center. )
