A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 5-11, 2024 AS
"ST. LUCIE COUNTY CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' WEEK"
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. The week of May 5 - 11, 2024 has been designated as National Correctional
Officers' Week.
2. Correctional Officers are responsible for the infinitely difficult task of providing
for the care and the custody of approximately 1,152 inmates held each day in
the county's detention facility.
3. Correctional Officers play a vital role in protecting the rights of the public to be
safeguarded from criminal activity; and the operation of a detention facility
represents a crucial component of the criminal justice system.
4. This Board wishes to acknowledge Sheriff Keith Pearson and the 228 sworn
certified correctional officers of the Department of Detention.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim May 5, 2024 through May 11, 2024, as "ST.
LUCIE COUNTY CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board urges the citizens of St. Lucie County to recognize our Correctional
Officers for the fine job they do in protecting the rights of the citizens of St. Lucie
County.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 7th day of May, 2024.
