r FOR PASSAGE OF HB 1023, ST. LUCIE COUNTY
Over the course of a decade St. Lucie County has put forward good faith efforts to
'r address the cost of inmate medical expenses. :';‘i:'"'::14.---""'/-/ji:1---.::--‘)'‘
�cIn the last three fiscal years, St. Lucie County has been billed nearly $40 million forinmate medical services rendered outside of the jail.
Without cost management measures, rising inmate medical costs would impede St.
Lucie County's ability to be fiscally responsible, plan appropriately, and make
reasonable financial projects.

1 In the best interest of public dollars,Representative Trabulsy led an effort to negotiate � �`
contracts with the hospital systems and St. Lucie County. When the hospital systems
failed to negotiate in good faith, the Representative filed HB 1023 to hold them
