A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 23—OCTOBER 31, 2024,AS
"RED RIBBON WEEK" IN ST.LUCIE COUNTY,FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Alcohol and drug abuse are particularly damaging to one of our most valuable
resources, our children, and affect individuals, families, and communities across the nation.
2. It is imperative that visible, unified efforts by community members be launched to
prevent alcohol and drug abuse.
3. It is the goal of Red Ribbon Week to involve families, schools, healthcare
providers, businesses, religious institutions, law enforcement agencies, government, media,
community-based organizations and service organizations in all aspects of this campaign, and
establish an atmosphere that supports awareness, education and on-going initiatives to prevent
alcohol and drug abuse.
4. The Red Ribbon Week Campaign will be celebrated in communities across the
nation between October 23 through October 31, 2024.
5. Businesses,government, law enforcement agencies, media, health care providers,
religious institutions, schools, parents, and other community-based organizations and services
organizations,will demonstrate their commitment to Drug-Free lifestyles, by wearing red ribbons
and participating in drug prevention awareness and education activities.
6. St. Lucie County further commits to promote and support policies that contribute
to the health and wellness of our citizens, residents and visitors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida does hereby proclaim October 23 through October 31, 2024 as "Red Ribbon
Week" in St. Lucie County, Florida and encourages all citizens to participate in drug prevention
education and awareness activities, not only during Red Ribbon Week, but also throughout the
year, making a visible statement to be strongly committed to a Drug-Free lifestyle.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 15th day of October 2024.
