A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS ACCEPTING THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE RURAL
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT TO ASSIST IN THE
PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENT FOR
THE SUNSHINE KITCHEN.
WHEREAS, the Sunshine Kitchen Food Business Incubator, which is a 10,000-
square-foot facility providing year-round, 24-hour-a-day access for users to produce,
package, and market food business items, and is located at 7550 Pruitt Research
Center Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34945; and
WHEREAS, the Sunshine Kitchen Food Business Incubator is a commissary
kitchen where chefs, caters,food truck operators and more can hone their culinary skills
and a food micro business incubator to help bolster the success of burgeoning
community-based business owners; and
WHEREAS, the Rural Business and Cooperative Services is able to assist St.
Lucie BOCC with funding of essential kitchen equipment for Sunshine Kitchen Food
Business Incubator to further foster economic development in the community as well
as to assist small and emerging businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. The County applied for grant funds from the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Block Grant Program to purchase
equipment for the Sunshine Kitchen (the "Project").
2. The USDA Rural Development Block Grant Program has approved the
County's grant application for a total estimated project cost not to
exceed $225,000.00.
3. On July 3, 2024, the USDA Rural Business and Cooperative Program
notified the County that the appropriate funds have been obligated to the
County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. The Board hereby accepts and approves the USDA Rural Development
Block Grant Program, Rural Business Enterprise Grant of $225,000.00 to

provide funding for essential kitchen equipment for Sunshine Kitchen Food
business incubator.
2. The Board hereby authorizes the Chair to execute documents for the
purposes of this grant and further authorizes the County Attorney to execute
documents by approving it as to form and correctness.
After motion and second, the vote on the resolution was as follows:
