LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA RATIFYING THE PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR'S EXTENSIONS OF THE STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY AND THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S NOVEMBER 15,2024 EMERGENCY ORDER (HURRICANE MILTON) WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. Pursuant to Section 252.38, Florida Statutes, political subdivisions of the state have the power during a state of local emergency to provide for the health and safety of persons and property. 2. The Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County has adopted Resolution No. 00- 277 authorizing the St. Lucie County Administrator and the St. Lucie County Public Safety Director to exercise certain emergency powers and authority during a local emergency. 3. The Governor of the State of Florida issued Executive Order Numbers 24-214 and 24-215 declaring a State of Emergency that included St. Lucie County; and 4. On October 7, 2024, the St. Lucie County Public Safety Director declared a State of Local Emergency—Hurricane Milton ("St. Lucie County Declaration of Emergency"); and 5. On November 12,2024,the Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 24- 216, ratifying the Public Safety Director's October 7, 2024, Declaration of the State of Local Emergency and extensions, the County Administrator's October 10, 2024 and October 23, 2024 Orders, and emergency contracts and invoices as set out in Resolution No. 24-216. 6. On November 11, 2024, November 18, 2024, November 25, 2024, December 2, 2024, and December 9, 2024,the Public Safety Director extended the State of Local Emergency. 7. On November 15, 2024, the County Administrator issued an Order requiring the immediate demolition of unsafe structures from the Spanish Lakes Country Club Community. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. The Public Safety Director's extensions of State of Local Emergency as noted above are hereby ratified. 2. The County Administrator's Order effective November 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., requiring the immediate the immediate demolition of unsafe structures from the Spanish Lakes Country Club Community is hereby ratified. 3. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
