HomeMy WebLinkAbout25-005 RESOLUTION NO. 25-005 A RESOLUTION HONORING FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER ZACHARY FINK AND SUPPORTING THE STATE DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF 1-95 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 115 AND 120 AS"TROOPER ZACHARY FINK MEMORIAL HIGHWAY" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. On February 2, 2024, Trooper Zachary Fink was killed in a line of duty vehicle crash during pursuit of a felon on Interstate 95 north at Crosstown Parkway near Port St. Lucie at 3:00 a.m. 2. Trooper Fink was a graduate of the 146th recruit class, graduated from the FHP academy on December 18, 2020, and was assigned to Troop D, and later transferred to Troop L, Port St. Lucie. 3. Trooper Fink served with the Florida Highway Patrol for three years. 4. In the State of Florida's 2024 Legislative Session, CS/CS/CS HB 389 entitled "Transportation Facility Designations" included an honorary designation in St. Lucie County for the "Trooper Zachary Fink Memorial Highway". 5. Governor Ron DeSantis approved CS/CS/CS HB 389 on June 27, 2024. 6. On June 27, 2024, the Florida Department of State approved the request to designate that portion of 1-95 between mile markers 115 and 120 in St. Lucie County as "Trooper Zachary Fink Memorial Highway." 7. The Board of County Commissioners desires to formally support the State Road Designation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, does hereby honor Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Zachary Fink and supports the State designating that portion of 1-95 between mile markers 115 and 120 as "Trooper Zachary Fink Memorial Highway" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
