A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 18,2025 AS
"POLL WORKER APPRECIATION DAY"IN ST.LUCIE COUNTY,FLORIDA
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of St.Lucie County,Florida,has made the
following determinations:
1. America's Poll Workers number over 700,000 per federal election, of which Florida employs
approximately 47,000, including more than 500 serving St. Lucie County voters.
2. Poll Workers play an essential role in ensuring voters can safely and securely exercise their
right to vote at the polls.
3. Each election requires significant preparation, extended hours, and the implementation of
measures to accommodate voter needs. St. Lucie County Poll Workers demonstrate
exceptional commitment, dedication, and civic responsibility in carrying out their duties.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts and service of our Poll Workers, record numbers of voters
were able to participate in the 2024 General Election.
4. Conducting accessible and secure elections relies on the work of hundreds of Poll Workers in
every neighborhood and community who come together,work as a team, and serve the voters
of St. Lucie County.
5. Since 2016, the Supervisor of the Elections Office and the Board of County Commissioners
have partnered to address Poll Worker attrition and ensure adequate staffmg at polling places.
This collaboration has proven invaluable in maintaining sufficient staffing levels during each
election cycle.
6. St. Lucie County is proud to recognize and honor the efforts of Poll Workers. The County
encourages voters,businesses,organizations,public officials,and candidates for public office
to join in celebrating and expressing gratitude to these dedicated individuals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucie County, Florida does hereby proclaim February 18, 2025, as "POLL WORKER
APPRECIATION DAY"in St. Lucie County,Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 18th day of February, 2025.
