HomeMy WebLinkAbout25-083 RESOLUTION NO. 25-083 A RESOLUTION AMENDING AND RESTATING RESOLUTION 22-223 REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE LOCAL TECHNOLOGY PLANNING TEAM IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA AND PROVIDING FOR DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE TEAM WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 288.9961(4)(b), Florida Statutes, the Office of Broadband is directed to build and facilitate local technology planning teams; and, WHEREAS, in furtherance of this directive and in collaboration with the Office of Broadband, the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners established the Local Technology Planning Team to support the advancement of broadband service and infrastructure in St. Lucie County by gathering relevant data and providing it to the community and stakeholders; and WHEREAS, the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to set forth certain details for the Local Technology Planning Team. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners hereby establishes the Local Technology Planning Team (LTPT): 1. RATIFICATION OF THE RECITALS The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as true and correct and are hereby made a part of this Resolution. 2. ESTABLISHMENT OF THE LTPT There is hereby established a local technology planning team to be known as the "St. Lucie County Local Technology Planning Team" herein referred to as the "LTPT." 3. POWERS & DUTIES The LTPT shall: A. Work with rural communities to help the communities understand their current broadband availability. B. Locate unserved and underserved, as defined in Section 288.9961(2), Fla. Stat., businesses and residents. C. Identify assets relevant to Broadband deployment. D. Build partnerships with Broadband service providers. E. Identify opportunities to leverage assets and reduce barriers to the deployment of Broadband internet services in the community. Page 1 4. MEMBERSHIP/COMPOSITION The County Administrator or designee shall serve as the LTPT Team Leader. Pursuant to section 288.9961, Florida Statutes,the LTPT is comprised of members representing cross-sections of the community, which may include, but are not limited to, representatives from the following organizations and industries: libraries, K-12 education, colleges and universities, local health care providers, private businesses, community organizations, economic development organizations, local governments, tourism, parks and recreation, and agriculture. For the purpose of maintaining order, the County Administrator or designee may designate a LTPT chair, and a vice-chair who will serve in the chair's absence. Any county commissioner appointed to the LTPT shall serve as the chair, in which case the County Administrator or designee may appoint a vice-chair. S. MEETINGS The LTPT shall meet biannually or more frequently as directed by the County Administrator or designee, the LTPT Chair or a majority of the members. The public is welcome to attend LTPT meetings. 6. TERMS Members of the LTPT shall serve at the pleasure of the County Administrator or designee, who will endeavor to ensure the membership of the planning team represents local stakeholders in broadband expansion at all times. 7. STAFFING The County Administrator and his/her staff shall provide necessary professional support to the LTPT. 8. EFFECTIVE DATE This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
