A RESOLUTION OF THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS IN SUPPORT OF STATE LEGISLATIVE FUNDING
REQUESTS AS PART OF THE COUNTY'S 2025 STATE LEGISLATIVE
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners provides our
constituents with a responsive and reflective local government; and,
WHEREAS, the County was devastated by six confirmed tornadoes from Hurricane
Milton. This storm led to widespread destruction across the County and resulted in six tornado-
related fatalities and one storm-related fatality; and,
WHEREAS, the County is in need of the following funding requests: Unified Command
Vehicle (HF 3375 / LFIR 2873), Deployable Diesel Generators (HF 3191 / LFIR 2803) and
Deployable Cellular On Wheels(COWS) (HF 3376/LFIR 1084); and,
WHEREAS,the unified command vehicle would function as a portable operations center
and will significantly improve emergency response capabilities for emergencies, disaster
management,and large-scale events; and
WHEREAS, the deployable diesel generators would provide reliable, on demand
electricity to safeguard vital operations and improve emergency response and ensure the resilience
and functionality of critical county infrastructure during emergencies; and,
WHEREAS, the deployable cellular on wheels is a vital asset during emergencies,
ensuring continuous communication and connectivity when traditional infrastructure is
compromised; and,
WHEREAS,the St. Luck County Board of County Commissioners, as part of their 2025
State Legislative Program, supports state legislation funding requests for a unified command
vehicle,deployable cellular on wheels(COWs)and deployable diesel portable generators 120kW.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,BY THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY BOARD
OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that the Board supports the following 2025 State Legislative
Appropriations Request as part of the County's 2025 State Legislative Program:
• Unified Command Vehicle
• Deployable Cellular on Wheels
• Deployable Diesel Generators
This resolution shall take effect on adoption.
After motion and second, the vote on this resolution was as follows:
