IN HONOR OF ONE OVERVUE AND SCIIOLASTIC BOOKS FOR THEIR IMMEASURABLE
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE VANDUZER FOUNDATION, SAINT LUCIE COUNTY
CHILDREN SERVICES COUNSEL AND ST. LUCIE COUNTY EDUCATION FOUNDATION'S
READ TO SUCCEED PROGRAM
WHEREAS, it has been determined:
1. NationaIly, statistics show that in middle to high income households there are 13 books for
every child, while in low-income households there is 1 book for every 300 children.
2. To encourage the children of St. Lucie County to engage in reading and to provide them the
resources to do so, the VanDuzer Foundation has partnered with The St. Lucie County
Education Foundation and Children's Services Counsel in its Read to Succeed campaign.
3. In support of the Read to Succeed campaign, One Overvue has contributed immeasurable time
and in excess of $25,000.00 in cash contribution which is used to award the schools within the
district who have the best participation in the campaign.
4. In support of the Read to Succeed campaign, Scholastic Books has contributed 20,000 books
which have been placed in the hands of St. Lucie County School District K-8 students.
5. Without the efforts of One Overvue and Scholastic Books, the Read to Succeed campaign
would not be able to complete its mission of providing home libraries for the students of the
St. Lucie County School District. [I,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
St. Lucie County recognizes and thanks One Overvue and Scholastic Books for their immeasurable
contributions to the students of Saint Lucie County and the success of the Read to Succeed program in St.
Lucie County, Florida.
