A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2025 AS
"DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY,FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has
made the following determinations:
1. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic health conditions in the United
States, affecting over 38 million individuals of all ages and backgrounds, and is a leading
cause of serious health complications and premature death.
2. The complications of diabetes including heart disease, kidney failure,
blindness, and limb amputation can be serious and life-altering but can often be prevented
or managed with early detection, lifestyle changes, and appropriate care.
3. Individuals living with diabetes often face challenges, highlighting the
importance of fostering awareness, compassion, and support.
4. The vital role that caregiver networks, public health education, early
screenings, access to care, and community-based interventions play in guiding,
supporting, and empowering those affected by diabetes is recognized.
5. The Health Promotion Team at the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie
County is committed to raising awareness, providing resources, and promoting healthy
lifestyle choices throughout the community.
6. November is nationally recognized as Diabetes Awareness Month, offering an
important opportunity to educate the public, support those living with diabetes, and
highlight local efforts aimed at reducing the burden of the disease.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
St. Lucie County, Florida that this Board does hereby proclaim the month of November 2025
as "DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida and encourages
residents, health care providers, community organizations, and local businesses to participate
in activities that promote diabetes prevention and care.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 4th day of November 2025.
