HomeMy WebLinkAbout26-032 RESOLUTION NO. 26-032 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF MARCH 15 - 22, 2026 AS "NATIONAL SURVEYORS WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. Land Surveyors are among our country's founding leaders and were instrumental in forming the layout of property boundaries in the United States, providing our citizens with the opportunity to enjoy the American dream of property ownership. 2. United States Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Abraham Lincoln all served as surveyors, contributing to the historical mapping of America in its early years. 3. The surveying profession requires special education,training, knowledge of mathematics, the related physical and applied sciences, and requirements of law for evidence. 4. Surveyors are uniquely qualified and licensed to determine and describe land and water boundaries for managing natural resources and protecting private and public property rights. 5. The continual advancements in instrumentation have required the surveyor to not only understand and implement the methods of the past but also learn and employ modern technology to find solutions to meet the challenges of time. 6. The citizens of St. Lucie County, Florida recognize the valuable contributions of the surveying profession to history, development, and quality of life throughout our country, and make important decisions based on the knowledge and expertise of licensed surveyors and mappers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. This Board does hereby proclaim the week of March 15 - 22, 2026 as "NATIONAL SURVEYORS WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida. 2. This Board encourages all citizens to recognize the many contributions and the ongoing dedication of surveyors to our community and throughout the United States.
