A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 12TH—18TH,2026 AS
"NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK"IN
ST.LUCIE COUNTY,FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. Emergencies can occur at any time that require law enforcement, fire rescue, emergency medical
services, and other critical public safety responses.
2. When an emergency occurs,the prompt response of public safety personnel is critical to the protection
of life and property.
3. The Public Safety Communications Officers of St. Lucie County and Telecommunicators of the St.
Lucie County Fire District serve as the first and most critical point of contact between our community
and emergency services, answering calls for assistance with professionalism, compassion, and
unwavering dedication.
4. These highly trained professionals manage emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch law
enforcement, fire, and emergency medical resources, provide life-saving pre-arrival instructions, and
coordinate multi-agency responses to ensure the safety of residents and visitors throughout St. Lucie
County.
5. Public Safety Communications Officers and Telecommunicators serve with integrity and resilience,
working long hours, holidays, and during times of crisis, often under extraordinary stress, to ensure
help is on the way.
6. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week was established in 1981 by Association of Public-
Safety Communications Officials and is observed annually during the second full week of April to
recognize the vital contributions of public safety telecommunicators nationwide.
7. The St.Lucie County Board of County Commissioners recognizes the essential role these professionals
play in safeguarding our community and expresses its deepest appreciation for their service,dedication,
and commitment to excellence.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida does hereby proclaim April 12 through April 18, 2026 as "NATIONAL PUBLIC
SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK"in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 7th day of April 2026.
