A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY
EROSION DISTRICT AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
FOR FLORIDA BEACH MANAGEMENT FUNDING ASSISTANCE
PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2027-2028 AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the St. Lucie County Erosion District ("District") and the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection ("FDEP") adopted the Fort Pierce Inlet
Management Plan on May 10, 2022 to; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to implement certain strategies, monitoring
activities, and management actions identified in the Fort Pierce Inlet Management Plan
and related shoreline management planning documents through participation in the
Florida Beach Management Funding Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 161.101, Florida Statutes, and Rule 6213-36.005,
Florida Administrative Code, FDEP accepts applications for funding assistance under
the Florida Beach Management Funding Assistance Program and requires the local
sponsor's governing body to provide statements of project support, sponsorship, and
willingness to provide any required local funding share; and
WHEREAS, the District supports the projects and is willing to serve as the local
sponsor to implement the projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of the St. Lucie County Erosion
District as follows:
1. The District supports the implementation of the projects identified in the Fort
Pierce Inlet Management Plan and the Long -Range Budget Plan.
2. The District is willing to serve as the local sponsor and, subject to future
budgetary appropriation and the availability of legally available funds, is willing to
provide the necessary local funding share.
3. The Chair, or designee, is authorized to execute and submit the application and
such other documents as may be necessary to implement this Resolution and
participate in the Beach Management Funding Assistance Program application
for fiscal year 2027-2028.
4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
