HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-188 RESOLUTION NO. 02-188 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING AUGUST 4, 2002, AS "NATIONAL KIDSDAY" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. The children of St. Lucie County are the foundation on which our future success is built. 2. Children seek parents, mentors and friends to aid them in reaching important goals. 3. Families and communities play vital roles in helping children develop a positive self image, sense of belonging and a sense of competence. 4. National KidsDay, (the first Sunday in August) is a special day set aside each year to encourage and remind adults that the meaningful time they share with children is important to their development. 5. National KidsDay emphasizes the importance of meaningful time spent with kids on this Day and every day, all year long. 6. The National KidsDay Alliance is working to establish National KidsDay on the national calendar. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. This Board does hereby proclaim August 4, 2002 as National KidsDay in St. Lucie County, Florida. 2. This Board urges the citizens of St. Lucie County to join in recognizing and commending the National KidsDay Alliance organizations in our area for providing their everyday contributions and commitment to improving the lives of the children and young adults in our communities.
