A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE
MONTH OF OCTOBER, 2002, AS "HUNGER
AWARENESS MONTH; THE WEEK OF
OCTOBER 13-19, 2002, AS FOOD BANK WEEK;
AND OCTOBER 16, 2002, AS "WORLD FOOD
DAY" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. October has been designated as National Hunger Awareness Month; October 13, 2002,
through October 19, 2002 as Food Bank Week; and October 16, 2002, as "Food Day".
2. Annually, the Treasure Coast Food Bank, Inc. provides over 1.26 million meals to
approximately 134 nonprofit agencies in St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin, and Okeechobee Counties
which feed hungry children, the ill, and needy.
3. By adopting a resolution, the Treasure Coast Food Bank, Inc. will bring more
awareness to the plight of the hungry and, together, work to alleviate hunger.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucie County, Florida:
This Board does hereby proclaim the month of October 2002 as "HUNGER
AWARENESS MONTH" the week k of October 13, 2002, through October 19, 2002, as "FOOD
BANK WEEK", and October 16, 2002 as "WORLD FOOD DAY" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
