RESOLUTION NO. 03-33
A RESOLIJTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
FINDING THAT TROPICANA PRODUCTS, INC.
(TROPICANA), BE APPROVED AS A QUALIFIED
APPLICAN- PURSUANT TO S.288.106, FLORIDA
STATUTES; AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION OF
TWENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND, EIGHT HUNDRED AND
0/100 ($28,800) DOLLARS OF AD VALOREM TAX
ABATEMEhT AS LOCAL PARTICIPATION IN THE
QUALIFIED TARGET INDUSTRY TAX REFUND
PROGRAM.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, ST. LUClE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
WHEREAS, the business under consideration is an orange juice
manufacturer, specifically, Tropicana; and
WHEREAS, Tropicana is located 6500 Glades Cut-off Road, Ft. Pierce,
FL 34981; and
WHEREAS, Tropicana has a major capital investment in their current
orange juice manufacturing plant site in St. Lucie County, and currently employees 360
people; and
WHEREAS, the jobs provided by Tropicana have an average salary
nearly twice the average county wage; and
WHEREAS, St. Lucie County will conduct a public hearing for the
purpose of considering adoption of an ordinance granting an ad valorem tax abatement
to Tropicana, in the amount of $28,800 as local participation in the Qualified Targeted
Industry Tax Refund Proc~ram.
NOW, THEI~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, ST. _UCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board hereby
recommends Tropicana I:e approved as a Qualified Target Industry Business pursuant
to S.288-106, Florida Sta:utes.

BE IT FURT-IER RESOLVED that subject to the adoption of an
ordinance granting an ad valorem tax abatement to Tropicana the necessary
commitment of local financial support for the Qualified Target industry Business for the
Qualified Target Industry -ax Refund Program exists in the amount of $28,800; that
this amount will be availal:le consistent with the guidelines set forth by the Office of
Tourism, Trade and Economic Development and will be paid to the Florida Economic
Development Trust Fund with the stipulation that these funds are intended to represent
the "local participation" required by S. 288-106, Florida Statutes.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
