LUCTE COUNTY, FLORTDA, TN SUPPORT OF THE TREASURE COAST RESOURCE CONSERVAT3:ON AND DEVELOPMENT COUNC3:L'S APPLZCATIGN FOR A 6RANT TO PURCHASE PROPERTY WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of 5t. Lucie County, Florida has mode the following determinations: 1. TheTreasure CoostResourceConservotionand bevelopmentCouncil("Council') is applyin9 for a Florida Communities Trust ("FCT") Florida Forever grant to purchase the 5andscrub, LLC property located adjacent to the County-owned Bluefield Ranch for conservation and outdoor rscreation purposes; and, The property to be purchased lies within the boundaries of St. Lucie County; and, 3. The purchase and management of the property will inure to the benefit of the residents of St. Lucie Country, Florida, as well os visitors to the County, and will further the public interest; and, 4. Tn order for the Council to give FCT reasonable assurances that it can do the project and manage the site in perpetuity, FCT requires the County to pledge to carry out the Council's management obligations for the property in the event the Council is unable to do so. NOW, THEREFORE, BE 'rT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMZSSZONER5 OF S-. LUCTE COUNTY, FLORTDA, that: 1. The Treasure Coast Resource Conservation and Development Council's application for a Florida Communities Trust Florida Forever grant to purchase certain property belongin9 to 5and_~crub LLC and lying adjacent to the County-owned Bluefield Ranch in St. Lucie County for con.~ ervation and outdoor recreation purposes has the full support of the Board of County Camm ssioners of St. Lucie County, Florida. 2. The Board, in o show of its support, and pursuant to Section 9K-7.003(7), Florida Administrative Coce, hereby pledges to take over all responsibilities of the Council related to the grant in the event the Council is unable to carry out its responsibilities for any reason and agrees to manage the Project 5ire pursuant to the terms and conditions outlined in the FCT grant application. 3. The Board is willing to be named as a co-signer on the ~rant Award Agreement and accept title to the pro>erty if the Council no longer holds title to the property. The Board is willing to provide any other assurances to the Fez as deemed necessary to adequately protect the pub ic interest. PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 12th day of August, 2003.
