A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE
DESIGNATION OF SR A1A AND INDIAN
RIVE~ DRIVE IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY AS A
FLORIDA SCENIC HIGHWAY
WHEREAS, the Boerd of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations.
1. On June 25, 2( 02, the Board adopted Resolution No. 02-114 creating the Indian River
Lagoon Scenic Highway Comdor Advocacy Group for the purpose of seeking designation of SR
A 1A and Indian River Drive i a St. Lucie County as a Florida Scenic Highway and creating the vision
and goals for the corridor wkich will evolve into the Corridor Management Plan (CMP).
2. The proposed corridor is recognized throughout the Treasure Coast as a significant
historical, recreational and scenic resource which offers residents and visitors alike an exceptional
opportunity to experience the distinct natural and cultural features of St. Lucie County, Hutchinson
Island, and the Indian River Lagoon.
NOW, THEREFORg, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board hereby requests the that Florida Department of Transportation designate SR
Al A and Indian River Drive in St. Lucie County as Florida Scenic Highway.
2. The County Administrator is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the
Florida Department of Trans,ortation.
