Commissioner Chris Dzadovsky called the meeting to order at 12:34 PM.

The minutes from December 13, 2017 and March 14, 2018 were approved.
5. PUBLIC COMMENT:
No public comment.
6. Financial & Web Report:
Tayler Hardison reported that Tourism revenues were $540,500 for the month of
February 2018, which was an 11.9% increase over revenues from February of 2017.
She reported that Tourism revenues were up 13.3% year to date (October-February).
She noted that the Promotional Advertising account will be adjusted as invoices arrive
at different times for upcoming summer promotions. Commissioner Dzadovsky noted
that on the Revenues vs. Expenses report, there will be Carry Forward budget
discussion to come at a future meeting.
Web Report:
Tayler Hardison went over the web report for the month of March 2018. She noted that
there were no paid campaigns directed to the site in the month of March. She
highlighted the increase in web visits and time on site. She showed that 60% of web
users from March were from Florida. She also explained that 47.6% users in the month
visited the site via organically searching for it.
Social Update:
Tayler Hardison went over the social media update for the month of March 2018. She
reminded the TDC that since no paid social media campaigns were performed this
month, there was a direct change in the data reflected on Facebook in terms of reach
and engagement. She explained that the Video Views count is a reflection of less posts
that include video during the month. Tayler highlighted the dramatic increase in
followers on Instagram for March and attributed this to more active posting, CrowdRiff
and Insta-stories. Tayler announced that over the summer is when the majority of paid
social campaigns will take place for the year.
7. Tourism Activity Update
Treasure Coast Sports Commission
Rick Hatcher reported on the end of Vinnyball; with record breaking funds collected this
year and that they will mostly go back to Vinny. He also noted that the New York Mets
Spring Training games’ attendance exceeded those of last year-with one less game.
Michelle MacNichol inquired if the St. Lucie Golf Trail is still being maintained. Ryan
Strickland said that yes, part of it will still remain a golf course under the new ownership.

Wren Underwood went over the Earth Day preparations for the event that took place on
April 21st. She explained that she is currently working on putting together a St. Lucie
Nature Guide.
10. Other Business
• Tayler Hardison mentioned that the Tourism Office recently hosted 2 golf media
travel writers in St. Lucie County. They focused mainly on our great golf assets in
the area. Tayler also talked about hosting the Canadian writer, Marie Poupart,
who was hosted in St. Lucie in February for a variety of activities from Horseback
riding and hiking with Wren on our top preserves. Her work will be published in
the Montreal Newspaper and will be shared with the group when posted.
• Tayler Hardison shared that the Tourism office is currently working on fun
interactive booth for the 3 upcoming family day games in New York this summer.
• Tayler Hardison encouraged the hoteliers in the room to participate in the
summer “Friends & Family” campaign.
• Commissioner Dzadovsky presented the case for support from the TDC via
funding for the repairs on 10A Buoy. Teresa Aronson suggested reviewing the
impact the fishing buoy has on Tourism at a later meeting.
• Teresa Aronson updated the group on the upcoming Treasure Coast Tourism
Showcase that will take place on Sunday, May 20th.
• Laura O’Brien announced that there may be an open opportunity for new hotel
development at the Civic Center and that it will be a perfect location for
conventions and large meetings.

member to the Tourism Team, Allison Macdonald now serving as the Marketing &
Public Relations Coordinator. Allison gave a brief introduction of herself & work
background.

The minutes from April 11th, 2018 were not approved because there was not a
quorum.
5. PUBLIC COMMENT:
No public comment.
6. Financial & Web Report:
Charlotte Bireley reported that Tourism revenues were $628,000 for the month of March
2018, which was an 11% increase over revenues from March of 2017. She reported that
Tourism revenues were up 12.7% year to date (October-March). She noted that the
Salaries/Benefits account was higher than budgeted because there were three payrolls
for the month. Charlotte noted on the year to date report that there is a 22% variance,
which is a good trend. Buzz Smyth asked what Tourism Office attributes the higher bed
tax in the month of March year over year to. Charlotte & Karen Marrone explained that
the hotels are continually raising nightly rates during the winter season, and March is
when the season peaks with tourists.
Web Report:
Tayler Hardison went over the web report for the month of April 2018. She noted that
there were no paid campaigns directed to the site during the month. She highlighted the
continued increase in web visits and time on site. She showed that 60% of web users
from April were from Florida. She also explained that approximately 80% of the visits to
the site were from users who had never visited before.

7. Friends & Family Campaign
Charlotte updated the TDC on the status of the Share Your St. Lucie (Friends & Family)
campaign launching June 1st. She went over the objectives & strategies set in place to
make this campaign a success. She then showed the group the many different ad
designs created to be used for social media, flyers, rack card and the billboard. Buzz
Smyth & Mayor Oravec made comments about making the “Share” and “Invite” call-to-
action words stand out more to make the message clearer.

8. Tourism Activity Update
Treasure Coast Sports Commission
Rick Hatcher went over the Economic Impact Report for Quarter 1 and 2 of fiscal year
2017-2018. In quarter 1, Rick highlighted the total number of room nights drawn from
the events was approximately 1800. Rick shared that many “crossover events” (events
taking place in a neighboring county) helped us gain additional room nights. In quarter
2, Rick noted that Vinnyball played a huge role in bringing over 8000 room nights to the
county over the course of two months. He then went over the upcoming events for
quarter 3 and 4 on the Treasure Coast.
9. Other Business
Buzz Smyth made an announcement about the upcoming events taking place at
Causeway Cove including the Fishing Frenzy and the 4th of July Blowout.
Charlotte Bireley showed the group the Tourism Showcase video that will be used as a
paid promotion on social media and reminded the group about the event taking place
on May 20th at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.
Commissioner Dzadovsky announced that John Wilkes will no longer be serving on the
council as his last day at the Sunrise Theater was Monday, June 7th.
