OLD BUSINESS –
Roy Hudson invited Mr. Clyde Preston from the Salvation Army to give a progress update on
Adam’s Place. Mr. Preston stated after three years of planning the facility has been approved
to open the first week in January 2019. He introduced Jeff Marquis, new officer to the area, who
will be opening the shelter. The facility will be located at 609 N 7th Street in Fort Pierce, Florida
and will eventually have 30 beds including intake and infirmary. It will be a male only facility.
Discussion ensued with members around the table with questions and answers regarding how
one would be referred to Adam’s Place in concern that this would be in lieu of jail. The
conversation ended with Jeff Marquis stating he wants to meet with all necessary agencies to
ensure everyone has the same expectations.
NEW BUSINESS –
Commissioner Bonna gave a farewell speech to John Romano thanking him for his many years
of service to our community. Mr. Romano said it has been a pleasure collaborating with so
