An immediate response to the attached comments in the form of addenda or change orders, as appropriate, is required. You are advised that approval of the construction documents does not alter or amend in any way the requirements for a valid certificate of need (or exemption therefrom) for this project. You also are advised that approval of construction documents does not alter or amend requirements for conform- ance with the particular stipulations of your certificate of need. N-221 ARCHITECTURAL A-1 Identify the room finishes in typical patient rooms 26 and 27. A-2 Provide fire rated access panels in the gypsumboard ceilings providing access for inspectors to observe construction of smoke partitions. Each room with an inaccessible ceiling adjacent to the smoke partition must have an access panel. Rooms include, but are not limited to bath suite 4, three typical patient toilets 12, med. prep 1 and A/C 21. A-3 Provide continuous non-combustible firestopping at the ends and over supports of the joists bearing on the concrete tie beams shown in the sections on drawing 5. A-4 Hardware for use on labeled door assemblies must bear the U.L. mark identifying the equipment as a U.L. listed material. Please verify that the series A hardware will bear the U.L. mark. A-5 Door number l to "Oxygen 22" must be a labeled assembly to protect the path of egress from pair of doors 35. The door must swing into the space. A-6 Correct the latchset number A-105 under hardware items 4 and 11. A-101 is the number designating the positive latching "Rollatch". The lockset A80PD for doors 4 and 16, hardware item 5, providing access to bath suites 1 and 2 is a storeroom lock requiring a key for entrance which restricts client use. Revisetheselection to allow client access. A-7 The 1/4" wire glass must be U.L. listed and labeled. A-8 The "Acoustic Tile" section 9D of the specifications does not conform with U.L. time/design number P-231, 1 1/2 hour rated construction. N-221 MECHANICAL M-1 Provide fire dampers at all duct penetrations of mechanical room 22 walls. M-2 Nurses' toilet 3 and bath suite 19 are excessively negative requiring make-up air in excess of that which can be accomodated by the maximum door undercut. Increase supply or reduce exhaust to these spaces. M-3 Provide a firestat or smoke detector in the supply duct for AC-8 and in the return ducts prior to dilution by outside air. M-4 If the fire protection sprinkler system as installed differs from the system shown on the drawings, submit the revised installation drawings for approval (with hydraulic calculations, if used). These drawings are to be signed and sealed by the responsible engineer. M-5 All air devices in the fire -rated ceiling component of a U.L. numbered ceiling/roof assembly must be of steel construction. Revise specifications as required. E-3 Sheet E-2: Smoke damper power supplies shall be fed from the life safety branch in lieu of the critical. E-4 Sheet E-2: Exhaust fans desired on emergency power shall be fed from the equipment branch in lieu of the critical branch. E-5 General: This office recommends duty stations in all work areas. Unless the quantity of oxygen in storage exams 2000 cubic feet, separation frcxn other functions is all that is ; required by the NFPA-56F`, 1974 edition, paragraph 232. The Standard Building Code requires that all partitions be one hour fire rated but there are no requirements rements for a labeled door nor is there a prohibition against a louver in the outside wall or door. Cmmmt *-5 is to be modified as follows: The air devices are to be of steel tx nstruction unless they are not used for support of the ceiling tileand the fire damper is essentially at the ceiling line.
